The holiday of Tu BiShvat begins on Friday evening, Feb. 10. This Jewish holiday celebrates the 'New Year of trees' and marks the start of Spring in the Land of Israel, with the earliest tree blossoms of the year! There it is celebrated with tree-planting and festivities.
At ACI, we will be celebrating with a brief musical Kabbalat Shabbat service (6:45pm) and a pot-luck dinner (6:00pm). If you wish to incorporate into your own dish any of these "Seven Species" -- which are associated in the Torah with the Land of Israel, and are connected to Tu BiShvat -- they are: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and honey.
