Judaism With Open Arms

Join us for ACI's annual Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 24, from 2-5pm. We'll enjoy an afternoon filled with carnival games, crafts, face painting by Astoria's own Cheeky Chipmunk, costume parade, photo booth, PJ Library book swap, and a puppet show by Lucky Duck Puppets. Carnival snacks will be available for an additional purchase.

Brighten a dark winter night by coming out for a movie at ACI! We'll be screening the nostalgic animated classic An American Tail on Saturday night, February 24, starting at 6:15pm. Join us as we make Havdalah together, followed by the movie and refreshments!

The New York Blood Center will be at ACI on Sunday, March 10 from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. Make an appointment now to save a life!

This past Monday ACI hosted a “Stop the Bleed” training session offered by the Community Security Initiative. Attendees learned how to use one’s hands to apply direct pressure to a wound, how to pack a wound to control life-threatening blood loss, and how to correctly apply a commercial tourniquet. Students then practiced their skills on a mannequin using trauma kits issued to the synagogue.

Those who missed the training can watch this informative video that covers the basic elements of the course. We also encourage those who can to find a practical hands-on Stop the Bleed training course.

Hebrew School was canceled this week because of the DOE snow day. We will be off on February 20 for Mid-Winter Break, but we will return to class on February 27!
