In Hebrew Language class, Kitah Aleph, Bet, and Gimmel played a more advanced version of the “Movement” game, relying on their memory of the words covered in previous classes. Therefore, the students had new movement words added to their vocabulary.
Kitah Aleph later watched an Israeli educational video about words that begin with the letter ד, and they learned the vowel "hirik" before continuing to work in their books.
Kitah Bet worked on writing short words on their own, while Kitah Gimmel worked on reading and writing.
In Music and Art, Kitah Aleph, Bet, and Gimmel practiced the popular Purim songs “Chag Purim” and “La Kova Sheli Salosh Pinot.” Kitah Aleph watched half of the Purim Lego story, while both Kitah Bet and Gimmel squared off by testing their memory, and competing in “Purim Jeopardy!” Kitah Gimmel’s two teams tied by the end of the period with 3,500 points each, while Kitah Bet’s 3 teams finished with 1,700, 1,400, and 800 points respectively.
In Judaic Studies, Kitah Aleph decorated clowns, put them on a string, and practiced singing and dancing, in preparation for our Purim Carnival this Sunday afternoon.
Kitah Bet students continued learning the lyrics to a Purim song (based on the song "Raise Your Glass" by Pink) that they will be performing at the Purim Carnival.
Kitah Gimmel students practiced their roles in the Purim play, based on the Megillah (story) that they will be performing at the Carnival.
In our Intensive Language Instruction class, students practiced writing the letters shin, bet, tav, and lamed, and then practiced writing the word לשבת. Kitah Bet students then contorted their bodies into the Hebrew word שבת.
Lastly, all classes assembled in the main sanctuary with Rabbi Josh; sang "Hinei Ma Tov"; reviewed the morning blessings; and talked some more about Purim, before singing "Hatikvah."
