Of particular need are shelf-stable, non-perishable kosher sources of protein, such as: beans, nuts, sardines, salmon, tuna, and peanut butter. (But don't forget the matzoh!)

Looking for a Seder?

If anyone is looking for a seder to join this Pesach, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

Open Door Shabbat

Shabbat morning is the best time for Jews to come together, and the WORST time to feel out of place in synagogue.

Join the ACI once a month for a no-experience-necessary Shabbat service, where we will explore the:

  • Structure of a prayer experience
  • Meaning behind key Jewish prayers
  • How to sing when you don't know Hebrew

Don't know Hebrew? No problem!

Skeptical about religion? We'd love to have you!

Haven't gone to synagogue since your Bar/Bat Mitzvah? You're perfect!

Join us from 10:30 am until noon on April 13, May 11, and June 22. At 10:00, there will be a brief meditation service, and at 10:30 we will start the learning service.

If you have any questions, contact Rabbi Josh at [email protected].

Attendance at all sessions is not required; sign up at the link below.

This Week In Hebrew School

In Judaic Studies, Kita Aleph and Bet learned the Biblical stories that led the Hebrews (Jacob, his 12 sons and their families) to Egypt. This prompted a discussion about jealousy that came about when recounting the story of Joseph being treated more favorably by his father, Jacob, than from his other brothers. This led to an open discussion by students about how each of them responds and reacts to feelings of jealousy.

Kita Gimmel also discussed the story of Joseph and his brothers, and reflected on Joseph’s dreams and how they changed the course of Jewish history: from leading Joseph to being sold into slavery, to eventually becoming viceroy in Egypt, all because of his dreams. The class then made an illustration depicting Joseph’s dreams and their consequences.

In Music, all 3 classes reviewed the Mah Nishtana, with movement, as well as with other songs from the Haggadah, and then came up with a list of words related to Passover. They then learned the movement songs using Hebrew words that they had learned with Moreh Omry in language class: run, jump, spin, dance, stand, sit, etc. Each student in Kitah Gimmel began to take a closer look at the Haggadah and how it is organized.

In Language class, all three groups did the movement activity that reviewed the action words that they had learned over the last 3 weeks. Then they began learning or reviewing the Hebrew words associated with Passover that appear in the Haggadah. Kitah Aleph and Bet learned or reviewed how to read them, working on their proper pronunciation, while Kitah Gimmel reviewed how to read and write them.

Lastly, all students congregated in the main sanctuary with Rabbi Josh, to review the morning blessings and their meaning before singing Hatikvah.
