Our Open Door Shabbat services are back once a month! Upcoming dates are:
- February 15 - TOMORROW!
- March 8
- April 26
- May 10
- June 14
What is Open Door Shabbat?
Shabbat morning is the best time for Jews to come together, and the WORST time to feel out of place in synagogue.
Join the ACI once a month for a no-experience-necessary Shabbat service, where we will explore the:
- Structure of a prayer experience
- Meaning behind key Jewish prayers
- How to sing when you don't know Hebrew
At 10:00, there will be a brief meditation service, and at 10:30 we will start the learning service.
If you have any questions, contact Rabbi Josh at [email protected].

This Week in Hebrew School
|
This week, in celebration of Tu B'Shvat, we held a school-wide event in the social hall. Students rotated through three engaging stations, each designed to deepen their understanding of the holiday's significance.
At the first station, students tapped into their creativity, using popsicle sticks, clay, and other materials to create representations of objects found in nature. They also solved riddles that reviewed key Tu B'Shvat vocabulary they had learned over the past two weeks.
At the second station, students enjoyed a sensory exploration of the seven species native to Israel: dates, figs, pomegranates, olives, wheat, barley, and grapes. They learned the appropriate blessings for each food while engaging all five senses, working with classmates to categorize the foods as sweet, sour, salty, spicy, or bitter.
The third station celebrated the new year of the trees, where students decorated flower pots, filled them with soil, and planted three herbs—dill, basil, and parsley.
After helping clean up the social hall, students gathered in a circle to sing and take turns naming foods that grow on trees. The celebration concluded with Morah Shana and Esther teaching the students a traditional Tu B'Shvat song.
