Open Door Shabbat Calendar
|
Our Open Door Shabbat services are back once a month! Upcoming dates are:
What is Open Door Shabbat?
Shabbat morning is the best time for Jews to come together, and the WORST time to feel out of place in synagogue.
Join the ACI once a month for a no-experience-necessary Shabbat service, where we will explore the:
- Structure of a prayer experience
- Meaning behind key Jewish prayers
- How to sing when you don't know Hebrew
At 10:00, there will be a brief meditation service, and at 10:30 we will start the learning service.
If you have any questions, contact Rabbi Josh at [email protected].

This Week in Hebrew School
|
In Hebrew class, Kitah Aleph and Bet reviewed the seder's 15 steps and the Mah Nishtanah. Aleph completed a "color me" worksheet of the 4 questions, Bet expanded their Passover vocabulary, and Gimmel learned the remaining verses of "Echad Mi Yodeah," reviewed the 10 plagues and 15 seder steps in Hebrew.
In Judaic Studies, Aleph and Bet explored the Ten Plagues, discussing whether they affected the Hebrews, how God identified their homes, and their experience during the darkness plague. We explored matzah symbolism, the hasty exodus, and the feeling of freedom for the Israelites, while learning Passover songs and practicing the Four Questions.
Kitah Bet additionally discussed life in Egypt during the plagues and how Pharaoh's stubbornness caused suffering for everyone. The children performed the "Baby Moses" skit and discussed important seder night traditions.
In Arts & Crafts, after discussing key matzah concepts—including the number used at the Seder, their symbolism, and which one becomes the Afikoman—students created personalized matzah covers using acrylic markers or fabric paint.
The day concluded with the entire school gathering in the sanctuary where Rabbi Josh explained key verses of 'Dayenu' before leading everyone in a joyful rendition of the song with guitar accompaniment.

ACI is committed to serving our community’s needs. If you would like to add a name to our Mi Sheberach list, inform the synagogue about a hospital visit or death, or request pastoral care for yourself or someone you know, please fill out this simple form. All submissions are confidential.
