Happy Passover from ACI!
As we gather to retell our story of freedom, we wish the entire ACI community a joyful and meaningful Passover. In a year filled with so much uncertainty and pain in the world, may the ancient promise of liberation feel like more than just history. Chag Pesach Sameach!
Our Friday Flyer Has a New Look
We're heading into Passover with a new look! The content is the same comprehensive news you're used to, but with a cleaner, more modern layout that we hope you'll find easier to read.
And while we're on the subject: After nearly four years of sending the flyer without a break, I'm looking for some help! If you could take on the flyer once or twice a month, or serve as a backup when life gets in the way, let me know.

It's Not Too Late to Sell Your Chametz!
As the community's rabbi, Rabbi Josh will act as our congregation's agent for those who wish to sell their chametz. If you want to sell hametz, please complete this form by Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 10:00 am.
We am proud to share that this year, we will sell our chametz to Rabbi Josh's friend, Father Carlos Holmes Rendón Agudelo, the new priest at The Church of the Redeemer, the congregation that neighbors ACI.

Pre-Pesach Shiur: Why Does Elijah Visit the Seder?
Why do we invite Eliyahu HaNavi to our Seder? While Elijah is one of the most well-known Jewish prophets, his story and afterlife in Jewish tradition are less well-known. This session will focus on Elijah’s leadership persona in the Tanakh and why he chooses the Seder to visit Jews around the world.
Please join Rabbi Josh on March 30, 2026, from 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET for an evening of adult Jewish learning in preparation for your Pesach Seder.

Need a Place for a Seder?
ACI is committed to ensuring that no one who needs a place for a Seder will be alone. If you would like a place for a Seder for one or both of the first two nights, please email Rabbi Josh by Monday, March 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET. He will do his best to find you a host family.

Annual Passover Food Drive
We're once again participating in City Harvest's Passover Food Drive! Help us make sure that no one in our city goes hungry over Passover this year.
All types of canned or non-perishable food is needed, but the most useful foods include tuna, salmon, sardines, gefilte fish, grape juice, and oils. Please bring your contributions to the box in the lobby between March 9 and April 13!

Share Your ACI Story!
As the Astoria Center of Israel celebrates 100 years of serving the Jewish community in Western Queens in 2026, we are inviting members of our community past and present to share their favorite moments and memories at the Center.
Over the course of the year, we will share your reflections in emails, on social media, on our website, and with the press — to tell the story of the many lives ACI has touched. What's your ACI story?

This Week in Hebrew School
This week, students continued their Pesach learning, reviewing the story, exploring the Seder plate, and discussing the meaning behind the foods and traditions. They practiced the order of the Seder, looked inside a Haggadah, and reinforced their learning through games and activities. Shana visited the classrooms and led a fun, interactive Passover game. Adom, Katom, and Tzahov classes enjoyed music with Alty, learning the Pesach story through songs like "Dayenu" and "Mah Nishtana," and the whole school sang "Mah Nishtana" together again at Tefillah. We’re excited for next week’s Passover “Seder” Experience, which will include a wonderful, hands-on, interactive program!
