Thank You For Celebrating Our Centennial With Us!
This past Sunday, June 14, we came together to celebrate A Sweet Centennial: 100 Years of Light, Learning and Legacy, marking a century of Jewish communal life in Astoria.
The event featured a ceremony in our historic sanctuary led by ACI Board Member Elysa Blumenthal and featuring Rabbi Joshua Rabin, New York State Senator Kristen Gonzalez, New York State Representative Diana Moreno, Chief FDNY Chaplain Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, and New York State Assembly Member David Weprin. The ceremony was followed by a treat-filled reception in the social hall.
ACI was proud to celebrate this milestone alongside members, friends, and our broader neighborhood community. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
If you were not able to attend, you can watch a recording of the ceremony by clicking the button below.

Hebrew School Registration is Open!
You've read about our Hebrew School every week in this Flyer; now's your chance to be a part of it! Join us Tuesdays throughout the school year for kids from Kindergarten through Bar/Bat Mitzvah age.
Our program builds Hebrew skills, deepens understanding of Jewish history, holidays, and values, and grows lasting friendships, both among the kids and among the families who find each other through it! It's where holiday celebrations come alive, where kids develop their own relationship with Jewish tradition, and where they prepare for the milestones ahead.

Run (or Walk) with Rabbi Josh!
Join Rabbi Josh on Sunday, September 20, 2026, for the LiveOnNY Donor Heroes 5K at Flushing Meadows Corona Park—a meaningful run/walk honoring the heroes of organ and tissue donation. This is more than just a 5K; it’s a chance to come together as a community, celebrate life, and support a vital cause.
Whether you’re a runner, walker, or cheerleader, I’d love for us to show up as a team from our synagogue. Let’s move with purpose and make a difference—together.
Pick "Astoria Center of Israel (ACI)" as your 5K team!

This Week in Hebrew School
Our Moving Up Ceremony marked our final day of Hebrew School this year! Families enjoyed watching every class perform, as students proudly showcased songs they had worked on for the past few weeks. It was a joyful opportunity to celebrate each child’s progress, recognize their hard work, and honor the connections we built together as a Hebrew school community. We are so proud of all of our students and grateful to our dedicated teachers and families for making this year such a success. We wish everyone a wonderful summer and look forward to another year of learning together! – Shana Fruchter, Education Director
