At Astoria Center of Israel, we believe in creating a warm and inclusive community where all are welcomed and valued. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated and all individuals, regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or family background, feel a sense of belonging.

Our doors are open to all who seek a connection to Jewish life, and we are committed to creating a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing their unique experiences and perspectives. We believe that the tapestry of our community is enriched by the diverse threads that make it up, and we are proud to be a place where all are welcome to grow, learn, and connect with one another.

A Promise to Interfaith Families

“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.” –Isaiah 56:7

I know that Conservative synagogues are often considered unwelcoming places for interfaith families.   So I won’t blame you if you are skeptical.   Sometimes, synagogues are not great places at helping people feel like they really belong.

Our mission at ACI is to build a Jewish community where everyone experiences Judaism with open arms. Jewish homes take many different shapes, and we believe that every person in that home can find a deeper connection to Judaism and Jewish Community.

My promise to you is that every person who walks into ACI is seen as created b’tzelem elokim (in the image of God), and that our community strives to model gadol kavod habriyot (maximal human dignity).   We are here to serve all family members, including partners who practice a faith other than Judaism.

Please come and celebrate Shabbat and holidays with us, give your children a Jewish education, and give ACI a chance to embrace you.   You will not regret it.

B’Yedidut (In Friendship),

Rabbi Josh
